Irish Coastal Rowing Championships 2019 Last weekend was a fantastic one for Killorglin Rowing Club competing at the Irish Coastal Rowing Championships. The event organised by Rowing Ireland was held at the National Rowing Centre. With a total of 7 Killorglin crews competing, 5 of these returned home with medals. Current ISK students Laoise Murphy, Airida Mateviciute, Amy Kelly and Ava O’Malley rowed a great race and secured an All-Ireland bronze medal in the U14 girls category. Airida Mateviciute accompanied by former ISK students Mara Treacy & Anna Tyther along with Katie Boyle raced hard to win an impressive gold in in the U21 women’s race. Later in the day the same powerful Killorglin crew went on to win All Ireland gold in the U18 race. In the final race of the day, the Senior Ladies race, former ISK pupils Rhiannon O’Donoghue, Zoë Hyde, Anna Tyther along with Katie Boyle powered home to take yet another All Ireland gold A massively successful weekend all round for both past & current ISK pupils! Well done to all involved.

For most students it has been a long and nervous wait. For those that obtain the points well above what they need, the long wait will be over. If you are one ofIGCthese students – well done. However, for a lot of students, this anxious time will, unfortunately, not conclude with the publishing of the results. These students will be either, short points for the course they want, or have achieved the exact points based on last year’s requirements or may have obtained a few points above what was required last year. These students will have to wait until the C.A.O. office send out offers and publish this year’s college admission points. Therefore, for these students the results day can be an anti-climax and the waiting game will continue until the offers are published. Having received your results, you need to allow yourself a day or so to digest what has happened. You may be delighted or disappointed and you need time to absorb your new circumstances. There is nothing that can be done – or should be done – in the day or two after you receive your results. Indeed, there is no point in trying to plan ahead when you are in such an emotional state. It is preferable to wait until the college offers are published. There is no way to predict if the points you require will go up or down until offers are made.
