Congratulations to Max Power, Third Year, who won Third Prize in the Biological and Ecological Sciences category of this year’s Young Scientist Exhibition for his project entitled ‘Vapes: Quantifying damage on developing systems’.
Well done also to Cillian Ó Riordáin, Second Year, whose project ‘Extra-Curricular Activities in Post-Primary education: Fun or Forced?’ was also selected as a finalist for the Exhibition.

BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2025
Cillian O’ Riordáin, Second Year, and Max Power, Third Year, are currently representing CBC as finalists in this year’s BT Young Scientist competition in Dublin. Cillian’s project in the Health and Wellbeing category focuses on Extra-Curricular Activities while Max’s project from the Biological and Ecological Sciences category is concerned with the issue of Vaping. We are delighted to share that our Senior Cup team recently had the incredible honour of being coached by Jason Holland, Assistant Coach of the legendary All Blacks. The session was an unforgettable experience, filled with invaluable insights, high-level expertise, and an infectious passion for the game. Jason’s guidance and unique perspective have left a lasting impression on our players, providing inspiration and motivation as we continue our season.
Congratulations to our Bowen Shield team on defeating Bandon Grammar in yesterday’s Final on a score line of 13-12. A last minute penalty from Conor Mulvihill ensured the first piece of silverware for CBC from this season. A special word of thanks to Ian Dunne and Alex Denby, supported by Dave Lee and all in the senior management team for, for their work with this year’s squad. Thanks to Bandon for a great game.

A group of TY students in a Global Citizenship Education class are working with Alita Kelly, a Youth Development Officer, to learn about social issues affecting Cork. Alita is conducting workshops with the TY students on topics such as homelessness and poverty. The students are also participating in Young SVP, a program run by St. Vincent de Paul in the South West Region and nationally.
Congratulations to our Third Year Geography students who took Second Place in the annual Cork Geography Teachers Association quiz. The team demonstrated exceptional knowledge and team spirit and showcased their geographical expertise, falling just one point short of victory.
